About Abid Malik

Abid Malik is a senior public affairs and policy advisor with more than 20 years of experience operating at the intersection of health systems, life sciences, technology, and government in Canada.
He has held leadership roles across ministerial government, major professional associations, and top-tier advisory firms — bringing rare cross-sector perspective to complex regulatory and policy environments.
Abid previously served as Director of Policy to two Ministers of Health in Ontario, contributing to major reforms in drug policy, health technology, and workforce planning. He later led Government Relations at the Ontario Medical Association, guiding multi-year advocacy strategies including the Prescription for Ontario platform, which catalyzed significant investments to reduce wait times and strengthen primary care access.
In the private sector, Abid advised organizations at Sussex Strategy Group and Santis Health on legislative strategy, budget engagement, and health-system transformation. As Director of Vendor Relations at eHealth Ontario, he worked closely with digital health and technology stakeholders across interoperability, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, analytics, and digital identity — gaining firsthand insight into the operational and regulatory realities facing innovators in complex public systems.
Today, Abid advises organizations navigating regulatory change, policy reform, and government engagement across health, life sciences, and artificial intelligence.
He holds a BA in Economics from the University of Toronto and an LL.M. in Privacy & Cybersecurity Law from Osgoode Hall Law School.
